Real Muslim

"You're not a real muslim" is something people have said to me a lot (both muslims and non-muslims). It's meant generously, as if to say I don't need to be worrying about such things. It's a good reminder that your life history isn't written on your face, and also doesn't evaporate just because people can't see it.

But what is a real muslim? I'm not sure. I don't think it really matters. In these comics, I try to give an image to the in-between space of identity.
