Wood, Steel

While the Door may appear as a conceptual and abstract piece, to me, it represents a carefully crafted secret. I understand the intricate work that supports its structure and functionality.

Originally titled "Door to Nowhere," the finished piece now symbolizes endless opportunities for contemplation. Instead of leading to nothing, it invites viewers to explore its significance, whether they interpret it through the lens of the Roman god Janus or as a commentary on the nature of doors.

Inspired by Robert Graham’s "Dance Door" and Do Ho Suh’s "Staircase III," I initially considered adding embellishments but ultimately chose to emphasize the door’s clean lines and structure. I opted for a white color to signify new beginnings and to highlight the door’s role as an entry point, rather than using red, which represents protection and sanctity.

This project has been exceptionally rewarding, both in terms of enjoyment and the physical skills I’ve acquired. By focusing on the door as a standalone piece, I’ve opened up new possibilities for exploring architectural aesthetics.
